About me and my work

I am a psychologist and a neuroscientist. I have always had a great interest in the human experience and behavior and their relation to the activity of the human brain.

After finishing secondary school I completed a degree in psychology with a focus on clinical psychology, cognitive and neuroscience, and educational psychology.

In my thesis (diploma earned in 1999) and subsequent dissertation (Dr. rer. nat. in Psychology, 2006), I intensively investigated the neuronal basis of working memory in adults.

Since completing my studies, I have continuously pursued both my scientific research as well as practical training and application of this knowledge.

My previous research posts were at the University of Leipzig, at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig, and Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig, and as a principal investigator of a developmental neuroscience lab at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin (selected publications can be found here).

In parallel with this, I have long been interested in application-centered work that can help people to grow both internally and externally and further develop themselves. I have completed training in neurofeedback and biofeedback therapy (e.g., Biofeedback Certification International Alliance, Akademie für Neurofeedback, Institut für EEG-Neurofeedback) and further therapeutic techniques. My work fulfills my desire to guide and support individuals on their path to personal and professional freedom and the desire to apply and utilize (neuro)scientific knowledge.

I am licensed in the field of psychotherapy (according to German HPG). I worked at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Hospitals in Annaberg-Buchholz and Merseburg, and since July 2020 I have been working at the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Leipzig Medical Center.

I offer my program in both German and English.
