Neurofeedback in the context of peak performance training can enable athletes to achieve maximum trained performance under pressure and to effortlessly switch back and forth between phases of relaxation and sustained focused attention. The training teaches an individual to trigger desired performance and mental states largely automatically and in a very energy efficient manner.
In addition, it is possible to significantly reduce detrimental states of stress and excessive nervousness during competition and to confront the momentary requirements in a more relaxed manner. The way neurofeedback is used is determined by an athlete’s objectives and individual circumstances, as well as by his or her requirements, for example based on those arising from specific competitive situations.
